Heading west

27th January 2007. Tallahassee, Florida. The bike is sorted out now and the shoulder feels good again. I'll be leaving on Monday morning. It's been nice to spend a bit of time with the guys here. I've even plastered quite a large part of one of the bedrooms here! Didn't expect to be doing any of that for a long time, but I'm glad I've been able to do something to repay Marty and Marcie for their kindness. I'm quite apprehensive about the journey ahead. It’s a long way. However, there are several people riding to South America at the moment and I hope I can meet up with some of them on the road.

I’m in Canada again. I had an accident near Tallahassee, Florida on the 8th December. I broke my collarbone and have had to spend several weeks here in Montreal while it heals. It’s not what I planned, but it’s been really nice to spend Christmas with my brother, Gareth, and his wife, Julie. My girlfriend, Nushka, flew over to join us too – been making the most of not being able to ride for a while. I’d veered off the road to avoid a deer and dropped the bike on the bumpy verge. Could have been worse. I’ll fly back to Tallahassee next week and prepare the bike for setting off again. I'm going to stay with the very kind Marty and Marcie again too. Marty’s a rider I met at the dealer where I left my bike in Tallahassee. He and his wife let have a room in their house for about a week after the accident. Marty has a business and detailing cars and bikes. He travels around Tallahassee and all over the US and Canada on his K75 detailing as he goes. The shoulder's getting better every day, so I’ll get my stuff together here and head back to Florida.
